Louisiana Club Challenge

LCC '10

This year Team Feaux X Feaux decided to help out an individual instead of donating to an organization. We chose Denise Richard and her family. She was hard worked like most of us, and then fell on tough times. She lost her job about a year and half ago. During that time she looked for work, hitting the pavement hard, doing odd and end jobs. Then she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She is a trooper, and is struggling to make it through all of the treatments and procedures. Denise and family were at the event on Saturday to cheer on the competitors, but had to leave early. We are really happy that she wanted to be a part of the event, and appreciated that she let us know that she and her family are grateful for  what we are doing for her. I hope that some of you got to meet this special lady on Saturday afternoon.

Catahoula Recreation Area owner Dennis Cotton would like to make an offer. He talked to us yesterday and said that if a Club would donate $100 to Denise Richard he would match it with a park credit of $120. This will get 4 jeeps(Driver + 1 passenger) into the park for free per club. If your club is interested in doing this call me @ (337) 962-7172.  This offer expires at the end of October, so please act quickly.

4x4 Clubs that were represented – Contraband Crawlers, La 4x4, Searchers, Louisiana Rock Maniacs, SMJC, SouthCoast Unclub, Automotive Gear , Northshore 4x4 & Team Feaux x Feaux.

Now, let’s move on to the winners and times.

Stock Mod Class

1st Place – Douglas Covington – La 4x4 – Ramp 618 & RR Time 1.41

2nd Place – Mike Taylor – Contraband Crawlers – Ramp 457 & RR Time 1.35

3rd Place – Shelby Hutchinson – Contraband Crawlers - Ramp 505 & RR Time 1.42

Stock Mod Class had 10 entries total running. And boy did these guys bring it. They were giving it their all. Sliding around tight turns were hard with all that sand on them. Great Show Guys.  The times were a lot faster than I would have expected.

Modified Class

1st Place – Chris Perry – Team Feaux x Feaux – Ramp 692 & RR Time 1.57

2nd Place – Bernard “BEEFY” Williams – Contraband Crawlers – Ramp 518 & RR Time 1.52

3rd place – Phil Losh – Searchers – Ramp 555 & RR Time 11.36

Modified Class had 9 entries total running. We picked a little harder trail than last year for these guys and these guys REALLY BROUGHT IT!!!!!!!!. There was some carnage that happened on this trail. Scott Edwards broke a front shaft and cratered this tub. Phil did some amazing stunt driving. Twice Phil was on his side and both times was able to get it righted, then broke a hub and still managed to finish the course. Toyotas were eating passenger birfs like it was a buffet. The highlight was watching Beefy bring it with his amazing run and Chris Perry(Yeah, the one that lost his rear tires last year ) brought it in a big way also. Hats off to all of you guys.

Extreme Class

1st Place – VJ Perrin – Southcoast Unclub. – Ramp 789 & RR Time 4.08

2nd Place – Shane Thompson – Contraband Crawlers – Ramp 627 & RR Time 4.49

3rd Place – TJ Tassara – Louisiana Rock Maniacs - Ramp – 705 & RR Time 5.42

Extreme Class had 12 entries running this year. These guys put on a HELL OF A SHOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This year’s extreme trail was built more for speed, and there was not as much carnage as last year, but these guys did not let us down. From what I heard VJ did not even have wheels on the ground coming down the 1st leg of the trail. He set the bar really high for the rest of the competitors. Great Driving VJ. Shane Thompson was no grandma either! His buggy goes where it’s told. The Maniacs lived up to their name for sure! All the racers really brought their A-game, makes you wonder if “crawl” is even in their vocabulary! LOL I even got the chance to race and I had a blast. Thanks for that.

I want to say that we had a really great event this year, and we will be back next year. We saw some old friends as well as new faces, and every racer ran as hard as he could dare. I saw people having a great time, cuttin up’ and making new friends. I heard people extending invitations to each other for future wheeling trips. That’s another big part of what this event is about, meeting fellow wheelers and growing our sport.

Finally,  I want to send out a special thanks to all of the men and women that help put on this event. It is a team effort, and that is what we all are, a team. Great Job !!!!!
